First Presbyterian Church of Kilgore, Texas

Located at the corner of Main and Lawrence Streets

In the name of Jesus Christ, welcome to First Presbyterian Church’s website. Our mission is simply to love God and to love each other, and to do both through our words and deeds. As you explore our site, you will discover that we strive to make Jesus Christ the center of our worship and mission, and to nurture and equip each other for the gift and task of Christian discipleship. The Presbyterian tradition affirms that we are not primarily religious consumers, but active participants in God’s mission to redeem the world for the sake of Christ. Therefore, we hope and pray that you will join us in this demanding, and yet joyful vocation.

We invite you to join us for:

This Sunday October 5, 2025, The First Presbyterian Church of Kilgore is celebrating 175 years!

We invite you to worship with us! We will celebrate with special music at our worship service at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. We hope that you will come and learn a little about our church family that began in 1850.

We have moved building locations, but never moved from each other. Our mission has been simple since the beginning...to make sure that the Word of God reaches those who have never heard it before, no matter how difficult it might be. We pray to continue the traditions of our past and 'Hold forth the Word of Life' into our future.

Our hearts go out to the people of the Texas Hill Country, and to all who are suffering after the devastating floods. As a church family, we are lifting you up in prayer. We are praying for strength, for comfort, and for hope in the midst of loss. We also pray for the first responders, volunteers, and neighbors stepping up in countless ways to help those in need. May God's peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts during this time.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” ~Psalm 46:1
