Cheyenne Savony Kirkpatrick grew up in Kilgore and was actively involved here at First Presbyterian Church, Kilgore. Despite her passion for softball and teaching, she always made time for her church family, helping with youth programs and events. In the summer of 2021, she joined the church staff to lead the youth and transitioned to the Director of Christian Education in 2023.
Cheyenne earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and a Bachelor of Science in Education (Physical Education, Wellness, and Leisure) from Southern Arkansas University, where she was a member of the Mulerider softball team. She also earned a Master of Science in Sports Management from Texas Woman's University in 2012 and a Master of Education in Health and Kinesiology from The University of Texas at Tyler in 2015. Additionally, she completed classes at the University of North Texas during the 2013-14 school year, obtaining a Career and Technology Education Certificate. IIn 2022 she completed a program to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. Furthering her education and career she completed a Principal Certificate from Lamar University in 2023. She is currently taking courses at Austin Seminary toward a Certificate in Ministry.
In 2012, Cheyenne returned to Kilgore to teach and coach at Kilgore High School. She initiated the health science program there, instructing sophomores, juniors, and seniors aiming for medical careers. Her subjects include health science theory, medical terminology, and medical law and ethics, with the latter two being dual credit courses. Under her leadership, the program has grown from 45 students to over 200. Cheyenne also established a health science club, offering students opportunities to develop their passions for caregiving through educational trips, university visits, and service projects.
Cheyenne’s dedication to teaching and her strong connection with the youth of Kilgore enhance her effectiveness in our church programs. She takes our youth and children to camps, works as a small group leader at MO Ranch, and always makes time for a heartfelt conversation when someone needs a listening ear. Known for making balloon animals, leading crafts, and encouraging joyful volunteerism within the community, Cheyenne is a cherished member of our church family.
Cheyenne is married to Kenny Kirkpatrick who is an active member here at FPC Kilgore. They live here in Kilgore with their five beagles and four cats.
